St. Christopher offers educational programs for children starting in Pre-K 3 through 8th grade. A child must have reached their birthday by September 1st to enter the appropriate grade. For instance, a five year old child who had a birthday before September 1st would be eligible for kindergarten.
Pre-K 3 - Children can be enrolled in a half-day morning program for either three or five days or a full-day program for either three or five days.
Pre-K 4 – Children can be enrolled in either a five half-day morning program or a five full-day program.
Our pre-kindergarten programs offer a blend of education, social and playtime. Children are introduced to basic math and reading, given religious instruction, enjoy reading time at the library, receive computer instruction, learn in the science lab, participate in art and music, go to the gym and play in the classrooms and the outdoor playground.
Our kindergarten program for children is five full-days. Academics include Religion, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar, Math, Social Studies, Science, Computer, Physical Education and Fine Arts (music, art, theater). Children also experience outdoor playtime and use of the playground.
St. Christopher School Grades 1 – 8 programs offers rigorous and relevant academics including Religion, Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Technology, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Computer, Library and Introduction to Spanish. A St. Christopher School education provides students with a challenging curriculum that is rigorous, relevant, and above all, rooted in the Catholic faith. With emphases on learning, self-improvement, spiritual well-being, and inter-personal relationships, our school focuses on equipping students with the skills needed to become respectful, contributing members of society. With small class sizes, each student receives an exceptional education with an emphasis on “small group learning.” Our teachers are dedicated to the academic and moral development of all students, ensuring each child receives the attention they deserve to be able to reach their full potential. Each grade’s curriculum has been specifically designed by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Office of Catholic Education with these things in mind.
More information regarding individual curriculum areas can be found at http://www.catholicschools-phl.org/curriculum/elementary-school-curriculum/.
Free Breakfast and Free Lunch are available every day to all students through the Archdiocesan Nutritional Development Program.
St. Christopher School offers educational support services through CORA to assist students experiencing emotional, academic and social challenges. Title I services are offered to eligible students (K- grade 8) and include: Reading instruction during the school day; Family Connections (Social Work); and a Summer Education Program.
As members of a caring community, we recognize that there are many children of families who, for various reasons, need supplemental child care. Thus, we offer a Before and After School Program for our students called CARES.
This program allows children to experience a rich diversity of growth and recreational activities both indoor and outdoor within the philosophy and value system of the Catholic school. Scheduled homework periods and snacks are provided daily in the After School Program.
CARES begins on the Monday of the first full week of school in September and ends on the last full day of school in June. The Before School Program is operational from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. The After School Program runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on full school days. CARES will not be provided on any scheduled school holiday, any early dismissal school day or any day the school is closed due to unforeseen events.
